Advice for anyone who has lost their cat!
Hi Everyone,

Two weeks after losing my cat (Jazz) outside his vets when the cat carrier broke open, I got Jazz back safe and sound thanks to the kind local resident who spotted Jazz at midnight last Friday. I want to thank everyone who helped in the search. I was very touched by the number of people who had been in contact.

To anyone else out there who has lost their cat, please don't give up hope. The key (in my experience) is to get the word out there and attract the support of the local community. Posters and leaflets were key to our successful search. Residents (particularly those with pets themselves) will keep a look out, but it may take time. Do not get disheartened, continue to search daily. Also, by actively searching in the area, you are reminding local residents to keep looking as well.

Also, I would advise all cat owners to consider the design of their cat carrier, particularly if your cat is on the larger size! Jazz went missing from a seemingly robust plastic carrier.Make sure all the fastenings are secure and go with a friend. Never take your cat in a cardboard box.
