Rolleyes Am I being unreasonable?
My parent's cat aged 13 has been off her food for the last 2 weeks and losing weight. Naturally they took her to the vet to find out what was wrong and for reassurance. The cat was examined and no lumps or bumps were found, Her teeth are all right. they took blood for tests and it took about 4 days for the results to come back. even then, they had to ask for them! Nothing came up in the test. The non-eating continued as did the weight loss. they took her back again and she was kept in over night to put fluids into her and encourage her to eat solids. They then said that it might be hyperthyroidism and took further blood. My parents are depressed and worried and this was not made easier when they were told that it would take another 3 days for the results of this test. they are watching their cat starve to death before their eyes and there does not seem to be any urgency! This is private treatment after all! Should they be having to wait this amount of time while paying through the nose for it? and why was the test for hyperthyroidism not done at the same time as the other tests? it is not uncommon in older cats. I am cross and upset for my parents and I think that the vets are raking in the money by stretching out this process. What advice can the people out there offer? Thanks

RE: Am I being unreasonable?
No i don't think you are being unreasonable at all. I would be very angry too if i were paying large vet bills and not really getting a fast service especailly if the cat is not eating. It's so frustrating as well because there is no one to complain to or any way that you can try and make things move quicker. I hate feeling helpless.

Have the vets kept the cat in while they are waiting for the results? They should have as at lest they can keep feeding her intraveneously.

I hope everything works out well in the end for you. Smile
