Found A Cat
I don't normally take pets home that i find on the street but, this evening, whilst attending my evening course (which was 4 hours long) There was a cat waiting outside my college, getting lost of fuss and cuddles from the people passing by (they'd regret it if they knew she has worms and fleas, which fortunatly, i had some spare frontline and dewormer in my cupboard)

Anyway. She was still waiting outside when i was leaving and looking ever so sorry for herself. Shivering and refusing to put both paws on the ground (it was freezing out there!) Plus she is very sweet and cute looking so i went to pet her and noticed she was a little thin, matted coat and seems to me she has a flea allergy with bumpy crusts on her skin.

My college is right next to a main road, and at that time it was EXTREAMLY busy, as it always is and at this point she was huddling upto my legs for warmth leaning right against them and i though 'i cant just leave her here! she could freeze or even worse get run over by a car, never mind what freaks out there would capture such a cute little creature' a few girls wanted to take her home and keep her but i decided, being responsible(i think) that id take her home and try and find her owners tomorrow by ringing the vets and the cats protection..

Just wanted to know if anyone think si did the right thing?

RE: Found A Cat
I think what you have done is very kind especially as the cat appears to be underfed and desperately seeking some attention and warmth. I currently have a cat missing and I would love to think someone is looking after her rather than her being out there alone cold and hungry.

Your local vets will be able to scan the cat to see if it is micro chipped and may help locating the cats owner, if no Micro chip get an add up on here in the missing section with a pic of the cat and notify the vets in the area where you have found her. You could alway put details up in a local shop window.

What area are you in as I have a cat missing and there is a college not to far from me which is near a main road? My cat has been missing for 5 weeks and I wont give up hoping and looking for her.

Good luck with finding the cats owners.

RE: Found A Cat
I'm in east midlands area. I've had her for a few days now and shes a fantastic cat. Real little sweetie and i just cant imagine anybody who wouldnt be missing her! I've taken her down the vets and had her checked over, vets says she has a flea allergy, bad flea infestation, worms and is about 9 - 12 months old. Shes settled really quickly but im not giving up trying to find her owners.

Been putting up posters in local shops and vets, cats protection know i have her aswell, so if anyone rings describing her they'll put them in touch. Shes been de-fleaed with frontline and de-wormed. the whole hog. Which wasnt cheap including the consulation. And she isn't even my cat! lol.

Problem is introducing her to my cat and dog because they've been seperated but have seen each other. Both my cat and dog have been around other cats before as we've had up 4 cats at once so it wouldn't take long for them to adjust but im just worried about the kitty cat as she would probably feel alittle insecure if i introduced them but im going to have to read up about it.

I hope you find her owner, if it were my cat I would be sooooo grateful for what you have done.

You will have to keep us updated and how you get on.

If it was my cat i would be very grateful you'd done this. just advertise everywhere possible, we have a stray who we kept an eye on now for 3 months, we've flead wormed & got rid of ticks. We've advertised absolutely everywhere but to no avail. it sounds like its been out a while if it has crusty bits. it maybe lost and far away from home. Keep up the good work if wasn't for people like you god knows what would have happened.
