IN NEED OF ADVICE
i was braught a puppy for my 21st birthday as i recently lost a very much loved english bull terrier and the void was just to big to bear.

ive had my puppy a month now and she is so wonderfull, so loving, and all the children love her as much as she loves them.

but then comes the problem

i knew her father is boxer cross boerboel, n know him very well as he lives down the road from me .. and was TOLD her mother was a full staff, but ive found out that she was half tankline american pitbull. Now im scared i will have to have her put down as pitbulls are illegal allthough she is only qualter.

please could someone help me ad advise me on what i can do as i love my dog very much and would be devistated if i have 2 loose her.

her character is wonderfull. she is brilliant with my cat, and with my other dog who is unfortunatly blind, and at 14 weeks old she already tries to lead my older blind dog around. she was braught to fill the void i had from my other dog dying, and to give my dog i already own some company. now im terrified i will have to put my puppy to sleep as the law says that pitbulls are "dangerous" when in true facts any dog can be trained to be dangerous, its all in how u raise your dog and how althorative you are with them, my pup is already very disciplined and it would break my heart to have 2 loose her.

please will some body help me and advise me on what i should do.

it would be much appreciated

Forget that you know she's quarter pitbull. No one can prove anything, and with that mix I bet you can't see the pit in her, and she's a lovely dog, so no one is gonna accuse you.

RE: IN NEED OF ADVICE
Nah, I see boxer and staffy. Most people wouldn't know the difference between a staffy and a pit anyway. I wouldn't worry about it, seriously.
Who has the staffy/pit then? Obviously nothing has ever been done about that dog.
Have a read thru this
http://www.doglaw.co.uk/DOG-pit_bull_ter...0-2-07.doc
And she's got a lot of growing to do yet, she could change a lot.

RE: IN NEED OF ADVICE
shes gorgeous, was listening on radio the other other day, & theres no test that can be done to prove pit heritage, as yet. and as no one else knows it shoudlnt be challenged anyway.
if you are are a responible owner willing to train her, it should never be an issue.
you clearly love her and will do whats right.
if the issue is really 'your' worry with her being part pit, address that now. i know the worry that can cause only to well.
if thats no issue, dont worry, train her well love her lots!
what i should add is that it is illegal to knowingly breed pits or pit crosses, if they continue to breed there dog in this way, something should be done.
my worry is that even though as you say with good training a pit can be as good as any other unfortunately, especially as there is now an illegal element to keeping them, some un savory characters may want them for the wrong reasons. also some less experienced owners may aqcuire one, and not know how to deal with its issues.
so keep an eye on these breeders. hopefully it was a one off mistake.
i add that many people trying to revive the pits in this country are mixing it with other breeds to disguise it. so its heritage cant be proved.
