Kennel Cough
Are there medications that can be given to dogs with kennel cough, or is this similar to a human cold where it needs to run its own course?

RE: Kennel Cough
Occasionally dogs are given antibiotics with kennel cough, but for the most part it goes away in 7 to 21 days, much like a human cold. If your dog has a cough though, it's best to get it checked out because more serious issues could be going on.

Thanks so much, I volunteer with a rescue and often have foster dogs coming in and out - its good to know its like a cold, now I don't feel so bad for themSmile

If you are feeding your dog with healthy diet, the dogs' immune system will improve and cough can be prevented. If he has a cough, put puppy in the bathroom for 20 minutes and vaporize with Vicks 2x a day. Do this for several days (4-5 days). If you see green mucus after 3 days, return to the Veterinarian.

RE: Kennel Cough
I would definitely take him in again for safety reasons and as a precaution. We had a dog with kennel cough and it only lasted about two weeks. I would be careful about any home remedies because overall your vet is going to know the seriousness of the situation and be able to tell you the best thing for him at this particular time. Good luck......
