Purring
How do you know when a cat shows affection toward you? One of my friends cats always goes between my legs and rubs its head against my legs. It is pretty annoying, but I think she likes me. :S

RE: Purring
I read somewhere that if a cat closes its eyes while looking at you, it trusts you. That is supposedly a major sign of affection for an owner.

RE: Purring
When a cat puts its' head against you, it is showing you affection. If a cat turns its' head and pushes it against you, it means that it likes you.

Yeh that is what I have heard too. I think when they rub up against you and purr that is a good sign.

I think that when it comes near you and it will allow you to pet it or cuddle it; it shows that it likes you.

RE: Purring
Actually you know, when a cat rubs it's face up against you (especially against your face) it is claiming you (and marking you) as being theirs. You now belong to them. Till you take a shower anyway!
This is because cats have oil glands in their cheeks that contain a scent that is specific to them, and will warn other cats to back off. You become their territory.
Hey, it's better than being sprayed.

This is interesting, I haven't heard that before. Sounds kinda greasy, but cool all the same.
Cool fact.

RE: Purring
My cat sometimes shows his affection by standing in front of the TV while I'm watching it.

RE: Purring
That's not affection. That's "Oy!! You!!! You're not paying me enough attention!".

Good point... any time a cat is not acting all aloof and as if they don't care a whit about what's going on around them, it's a good sign.
