I joined this forum to give my daughter a helping hand in her campaign to raise awareness of a tragic new departure into madness - Rent a Dog!
A "business venture" is due to start up in London - fresh from USA! - whereby for about £30 you can hire a dog for a weekend! I'm actually speechless!
The poor things will get shoved from pillar to post - not knowing who to attach to! It's called Flex Pets - presumably short for Flexible Pet Ownership!

RENT A DOG!!! THAT IS SO CRUEL!!! .. You know how most people treat stuff they rent, unlike they treat their own personal belongings! UGH! makes me sick to think someone would actually think about RENTING a pet:| That should not be possible!!!!! I am so outraged! If you want a pet, rescue one from a local shelter!

I have seen this before, and while I think its kind of insane, I can see the place for it, especially if it means these dog's lives were saved because of their entry into this program. Some dogs are really good at adjusting to new environments and can kind of bounce from one person to another, and as long as they are being loved in the homes they are in , I think its ok.

Who is the idiot that invented this idea?
Don't they know how much stress it is for a dog to move everytime?
I can't really see people paying for it either, as there are a lot of people with dogs that want to go away for the weekend and need a place for their dogs to stay, and are willing to pay for that!

This is indeed outrageous. I can't believe how far people will go to please their selfishness and irresponsibility. If you do not have what it takes to own a dog, then don't. And if you still want to play with one, go volunteer at a shelter.
