No, they hurt and confuse the dog, using any form of shock treatment isnt the best way to train a dog, or any animal, us humans wouldnt like to be shocked all the time, so no, the dog wouldnt either, best bet is to do what I did with my dog chewing making in the house, and barking a lot, is just get a training book, and spend time training them, within a week your dog will have llearnt what you wanted them to learn, food and treats are a great way to motivate them, get this book, help me a lot and will help you, not shocking them lol.
