Fleas feed on your pet's blood and make your cat uncomfortable A heavy infestation can cause it to become anemic and unwell. Flea infestations have been known to kill kittens. Some individual animals are allergic to flea saliva and this causes the pet abject misery with constant scratching and self mutilation. The most common allergy dermatitis in cats and dogs is a flea allergy. Fleas also spread tapeworm from one animal to another.

When a cat has fleas they might scratch a lot and their behavior tends to change. Sometimes you might not always notice it. Another sign is if they throw up after they eat or they might not as much and they could also have diarrhea. Do you know of any other flea signs that might be on cats and do you have any medications that you recommend?

Cats' eyes are so big that if our eyes were proportionately as big they would be about 8 inches in diameter.

Cats are usually considered color-blind

Your cat's tail usually tells his mood:
Carried high - proud and content
Extended straight - he's stalking
Thrusting side to side - he may be angry
An adult cat can weigh as much as 20 pounds and as little as 5.
A cat scratching post is used to satisfy the urge to stretch, clean claws, and marking territory, not for claw sharpening

Does anyone else have this problem?
My cat currently is bringing in usually at least 1 rabbit a day!!, Usually dead, all sizes from bunnie to big! have no idea how he gets them thru the cat flap.
We know he has one, when he doesn't meow as he comes thru, then the chase is on, to make sure he doesn't take it upstairs!!
Although the other day, he managed to meow with the rabbit in his mouth. It was a shock at first (when we found the first decaying one in my son's wardrobe, - we had wondered what the stench was)
Sometimes he eats them (apart from the head, the tail, ears, and guts), others he just decapitates, sometimes, he leaves them whole, and plays with them , throwing them around.. We 've had one brought in, still alive, hopping around the house (when we got it out of his mouth, -by the way, find it difficult to get him to drop them) one, semi -alive, which we had to give back to him, to kill quickly.(which was upsetting for the kids)
so apart from all this killing!! (before was only shrews, and voles, so less blood etc..)he's such a character, very vocal, follows us around like a dog, has to sleep with someone, but guaranteed he has to hunt for a couple of hours everyday, so he is often gone for part of the day, but is mostly happy to weave in and out of our legs, sit on us, and climb up us, or meow like crazy when hungry. He's just two years old, so maybe the hunting habit will drop off eventually???
We found him as an abandoned kitten at about 8 weeks of age, so is an asian moggy (yep we brought him back from Asia!!) so also rabbits are new to him this summer!!

Hello there,
I really need some help and advice please about what to do about my missing cat? I'm sorry for the long story but I do really need to explain first…

My beloved cat Phoenix went missing on Boxing Day and we immediately handed out posters to our neighbours as it was so unlike him to not come home, especially since he hadn't had his breakfast. Unfortunately a few of our neighbours informed us that they had seen a "ginger and white cat with white feet" (like him) that morning who had sadly passed away on a nearby main road.

I know under usual circumstances that this would explain his disappearance, but there are a few things that do not add up. For instance, Phoenix had two white back feet but only the tips of his front feet were white and I'm not sure if you would be able to see these at a passing glance? He also had very distinctive "marble" markings and one of our neighbours even picked this cat up to kindly move it out of the road but he said the most prominent feature was its white feet.

Secondly, Phoenix had only been out for no more than half an hour before the earliest time we were told that this cat had passed away and by the time we had searched the main road, it had only been two hours at most since the earliest report of this cat and yet the council had already removed it. He also left our house that morning with a brand new quick-release collar on that he got for Christmas - but we were told that this cat definitely did not have a collar on and it was never found at the scene. Phoenix was such a nervous cat too, he was terrified of cars and he wouldn't even go onto our drive because of this.

I would just like an honest opinion on how likely this cat is to be Phoenix? And I know that some people must be wondering: "Was he micro-chipped?" and the answer is yes he was but Stockport council told us directly that they do not scan any animal for a microchip as it is "not their policy to do so."

We handed out hundreds of leaflets to people and put up many posters asking for any information but not one person who lives on either side of the main road contacted us. However, since then we have had about 12 calls telling us that a cat who is "the absolute spitting image" of Phoenix has been seen at a local Nursing Home that backs on to woodland behind our house. We are still hoping this is him, as like I say, he has very distinctive markings and this cat apparently also has the same white feet as him and he did have the same coloured collar on (although we have recently been informed that he has now lost this!)

However, we have been visiting this place for a month now, and we have never been able to even see this cat and it is becoming incredibly frustrating. We have tried calling him, making noises with his food bowl, and we have even tried a humane trap but to no avail. We know this cat is still around though because people are still ringing us about it. I know it sounds cruel, but we really can't waste any more time on this cat if it turns out not to be Phoenix but equally if it is him, we just want him home now...

Has anybody got any other ideas we could possibly try please? Any help will be much appreciated. We're desperate to get him home and we will try anything for our little man.

Thank you in advance and apologies again for the long story!

Hi there,

I recently posted an ad on the site for my missing cat Yoshi:

http://www.nationalpetregister.org/mp/20536.htm

He is around 10-11 months old, and still looks like a kitten, and certainly acts like one! He has not been neutered, though was just about to book him in, perfect timing!

I knew for about 2 or 3 months that he was sexually active (just by looking!), so I'm guessing he will have been wanting a female cat! I understand that cats who are courting can disappear for days to weeks until they are 'satisfied' and return home. However, my cat rarely went further than the next road. In fact, he would only be found within the space of a few doors down either way on our road. He would also be indoors a LOT of the time, loved it inside, usually every day he would wait to be allowed in by our back door meaowing, or as soon as he heard me, he would come running inside.

Well anyway, I'm just struggling to understand if this is normal. If he has been so attached to his home for so long, how can he suddenly disappear from the whole area? is it normal for cats who are courting to disappear instantly, even after spending all their time in a loving, warm home with plenty of food? If he's been gone a week, and only I would feed him, how is he surviving?

I hope someone can help me understand here!

My 1 year old cat, Munki went out on Monday and hasn't yet come back. She's done this once before but came home after 2 days. This time it's been 4 days and we're beside ourselves.

People are telling me that this is quite common during the summer and I guess I just need some reassurance that she'll come home.

Any thoughts?

My 1 year old Siamese went missing last Tuesday night, 10 days ago and my boyfriend and I are beside ourselves with worry...

He went out overnight the first time we let him out and my boyfriend found him a few streets away the next morning, tired & with a bloody ear. After that, he went out again a month later overnight but was back in the garden by 8am the next day so we knew he could find his way home. After that, he stayed in the garden or the area directly behind (car park/street - we live in a new development with tightly-packed houses) but always came back after no more than 3/4 hours at the most.

I have done everything I can think of - I've put up posters, put flyers through everyone's doors, walked around the development and the surrounding woods and fields up to two or three times a day, calling him and shaking his treats. I've left out food and items of clothing overnight, called the chip people to report him missing, called rescue centres, vets and even pet psychics! I have today called the council to see if they had picked up a dead Siamese recently and am awaiting a call-back (I had to wait this long to summon up the courage to do it).

He's super-friendly and inquisitive and loves strangers and even dogs - he tried to make friends with a neighbour's giant husky once. He doesn't seem afraid of anything. No one in the area has seen him. We live in a new development and I have spoken to children, adults, dog-walkers and builders to no avail. I asked the builders to check houses and garages, pipes and anything they have been working in or on but they generally tend to leave windows and doors open and block the houses off with fences. Plus they are there in and out every day to work and say they haven't seen him.

I have been out to call him first thing in the morning (between 2am and 5am), during the day and in the evening but have heard no noise (he's VERY loud) or seen him at anyone's window. As we are surrounded by woods, fields and hills I am concerned he might be chasing rabbits/mice/voles and got lost.

He was wearing a collar with our details on and is neutered and microchipped. But nothing. He seems to have just disappeared off the face of the earth...

I am so lost without him

I am looking to find a loving home for a lovely male Tabby who has moved in to ours. Unfortunately I think my cat has moved out because he has moved in but I can't just kick him out and as I have grown quite attached to him I would love to find him a good home.

He gets on well with my other cats and is a big soppy, beautiful boy who loves nothing better than a warm lap and lots of fuss.

When he turned up at ours he was very nervous and not in great shape. I believe he has been mistreated and this has made him a little nervous. In the past couple of months he has gone from being a very nervous boy to a warm and loving cat. The vet estimates his age at 4 years old. I have done everything I can to find his owners but I believe that he has been dumped.

His ideal home would be somewhere relatively calm where he would get all the love and fuss he deserves. The most ideal situation would be for him to go to a home as an only cat for an older person however he is good with people (never lashed out once even when scared) and other cats.

If you know anyone who can give this gorgeous boy a loving home please let me know by personal message, email or phone on 01367 860437
